Jewish themes

The recurrent Jewish themes in Rubin's art are obviously a reflection of his background and traditional upbringing, and later in the friendship with Yiddish writers and poets, a circle with whom he associated in Czernovitz and in New York at the beginning of the 1920s'. When he came to Palestine as an ardent Zionist, he did not however, distance himself from the former Yiddish, Eastern European narrative.
